« Back : No Gas Supply .
“We struggled for three years to find a heating system that
worked efficiently and effectively. Since installing the Heat Electric radiator our
house has been transformed.”
With no gas supply to their house, Mark and Catherine Stewart
have battled against inefficient heating systems and rising utility bills in
order to heat their three-bedroom detached house in the village of Ayton in the
Scottish Borders.
Storage heaters were in place when the Stewart’s first moved
in to their home three years ago. With winter bills at £750 a quarter the
Stewart’s tried to heat their house with the two coal fires that were in the
house, four bottled gas heaters and flat panelled radiators to reduce them but
still ended up with high costs and a cold house. Frustrated, they went in
search of a more efficient and cost effective way of heating their house and
while searching the internet, they came across the Heat Electric range of electric
water-filled radiators.
Wall mounted and easy to install, each unit looks just like a
conventional, double panelled radiator but hides an internal mini boiler and
pump which transforms each into a self-contained central heating system. Amazed
with the product’s unique concept and the flexibility and control it offered,
the Stewarts decided to trial one for their hall way. They were so impressed
with the results that within three days they had ordered three more for the
lounge and downstairs bedroom.
With the whole house working off electric, Mark monitors the
meter reading everyday and has noticed a considerable drop in units being used
and cheaper bills. He said: “Before we installed the Heat Electric system the house
was constantly cold even though we were paying through the roof for electricity
and the bottled gas.
“Since installing the radiators the house has been
transformed. It has dried up the moisture in the living room and the home is
warm throughout. The radiators are so efficient and because they work
independently we can choose when and where the heat is needed without wasting
energy heating up the whole house like a conventional central heating system
does. This has resulted in us only paying £3 a day to run everything which is a
third of what we were paying.”
With a choice of controls the radiators can work individually
or as a group throughout the home. The Stewart’s have just ordered the Radio
Frequency Control allowing them to programme a group of radiators to come on
and off together with six different time and temperature settings prevent cold
spots and overheating. Mark added: “We are now looking to expand the system to
the upstairs rooms and with the possibility of running off Economy 10 our bills
maybe reduced further. All with the extra bonus of no maintenance, installation
costs or exposed pipework.”
