« Back : Fife Housing Association“Heat Electric radiators save our tenants at least £260 a year in heating costs. We are so impressed that 300 have been specified for a 40 property heating upgrade and we are considering replacing our entire gas stock with Heat Electric radiators.”
Jim Bett, Clerk of Works for Fife Housing Association, discovered Heat Electric’s water filled electric radiators when researching an alternative to the existing storage heaters in 40 properties requiring a routine upgrade in Kennoway, Fife. Jim was impressed by the benefits of no maintenance and the absence of risk or lawful entry requirements posed by gas central heating.
Fife Housing Association installed a pilot house with five Heat Electric radiators over an eight month period from January 2008. The tenant instantly reported a “healthier” heat and controllability was reported as a huge benefit. By fitting an energy monitor before installation, Fife monitored the tenants energy spend and saw a saving of over £5 a week on heating costs.
Jim continued: “A saving of anywhere up to £15 a week would be possible if energy was supplied through a supplier which provides an Economy 10 tariff. We are now encouraging all our tenants to switch suppliers to receive maximum benefit from their new Heat Electric systems.”
Heat Electric radiators are 100% efficient – all the electricity consumed gets turned into useful heat – they operate individually and heat up in minutes. Each unit looks just like a conventional, double panelled radiator but hides an internal mini boiler and pump which transforms each one into a self-contained central heating system.
Coming with a choice of controls, a built in air thermostat monitors the room and once the desired temperature has been reached, the radiator stops drawing electricity, avoiding cold spots and overheating. When not in use for prolonged periods, each unit can be switched off without causing any damage to the system.
“With ease of installation, cost savings on maintenance and the lack of risk in not working with gas systems, the Heat Electric radiators provide the smartest, most future proof heating system I have ever come across.
With this in mind we are now proposing a report to the board to replace all our gas central heating systems in 2,500 properties with Heat Electric radiators because for Housing Associations who have to consider tenant welfare, energy consumption, maintenance and cost, there really is no better heating provider on the market.”
